A hand-colored engraved map of the County of Oldenburg (Oldenburg Comitatus) oriented with West at the top. The map shows the coastline along the North Sea and the estuary of the Weser river (Ostium Visurgis Fluvii). It features various topographical details including forests (represented by clusters of trees), marshes (labeled "Paludes"), and hills. Numerous towns and villages are marked with small architectural icons. A prominent title cartouche in the lower right corner is framed in red and gold with a coat of arms above it. In the upper left is a scale of miles with a pair of dividers. A decorative compass rose is positioned in the water on the right side. The map is bordered by a graduated frame showing degrees of latitude and longitude, with cardinal directions labeled: OCCIDENS at the top, ORIENS at the bottom, MERIDIES on the left, and SEPTENTRIO on the right.
Here the sea is shallow, such that where the tide recedes, there is a pedestrian path, and soon as the water returns, it rushes again into the valleys.
