A detailed panoramic copperplate engraving of the city of Lisbon, viewed from the water. The cityscape stretches across several hills, featuring numerous church spires, palaces, and fortifications. The Tagus River in the foreground is busy with maritime activity, including large multi-masted galleons and smaller rowboats heavily laden with passengers in 17th-century dress. The entire scene is enclosed in a decorative border with a foliate pattern. At the top center, a baroque-style cartouche decorated with scrolls and heavy swags of fruit contains the city's name. In the bottom left corner, just inside the border, is the signature of the artist and the publisher.
