In the upper right, an elaborate decorative title cartouche is surrounded by mythological figures, including Mercury (Hermes) with his caduceus and Neptune with a trident, as well as cherubs and female allegorical figures. In the upper left, a list of the seventeen provinces is held between two lions and draped figures, above a large coat of arms. The map includes a large compass rose in the sea area labeled "THE NORTH SEA" and several detailed drawings of sailing ships. A distance scale is positioned in the lower left corner.
