A detailed, hand-colored engraved map of the Duchy of Brunswick and Lüneburg (Duchy of Brunswick and mostly Lüneburg) from 1650. In the lower-left corner, an elaborate cartouche displays the title and author information. The cartouche is adorned with a seated female figure wearing a laurel wreath and yellow robes, holding a blue shield with a golden lion rampant. She sits amidst lush foliage and architectural scrollwork. Below the main title box is a scale bar for German miles. The map itself depicts topography with forests, hills (including the Hartz mountains), and numerous rivers such as the Weser and Elbe. Cities, towns, and regional boundaries are meticulously labeled and outlined in color. The cardinal directions are noted at the center of each border: SEPTENTRIO (North), ORIENS (East), MERIDIES (South), and OCCIDENS (West).
