A hand-colored engraved map of the Kingdom of Portugal and the Algarve. The map shows the coastline, river systems, mountain ranges, and numerous towns and cities. Regions are demarcated by colored outlines, including "Part of the Kingdom of Galicia", "Part of the Kingdom of Leon", "Part of Old Castile", "Part of New Castile", and "Part of Andalusia".

In the upper left, a large decorative cartouche is enveloped in clouds and supported by four cherubs (putti). The cherubs hold symbols of peace and victory (olive and palm branches) and support the royal coat of arms of Portugal, which is topped by a crown.

In the lower right, another decorative scene features a reclining Neptune (the river god) holding a trident next to an overflowing urn, representing the source of a river. Two cherubs next to him hold a shield with a coat of arms. This scene incorporates a "Mile Scale" and a legend box for city symbols.

A compass rose is situated in the ocean area to the west of central Portugal. The sea is labeled with various names for the Atlantic Ocean.
