A rectangular engraving within a decorative foliate frame depicts three men in seventeenth-century attire in a shop or studio setting. To the left, a man is seated at a table examining a document; in the center, another man stands holding a rolled-up paper; and on the right, a third man stands holding up a large map or plan of a city and harbor, clearly labeled "BATAVIA". At the bottom of the engraving is a cartouche containing the text "THE CROWNED ART AND MAP SHOP."
