of L. and H. TRIP.
A faint, mirrored impression of the title from the facing page, "THE HOUSE OF L. AND H. TRIP.", appears within a decorative rectangular border. The impression is a result of ink offset.
The gentlemen LOUYS and HENDRICK TRIP had this residence built within the city of Amsterdam, on the old Singel or Kloveniersburgwal, near Saint Anthony’s Market. The first stone was laid on May 24, 1660. The aforementioned building was constructed upon strong, dressed massive solid/heavy foundations, throughout with vaulted and cemented cellars, and several beautiful rooms or chambers, also with stone vaults, in addition to other halls and large rooms of excellent character. It possesses very resolute, large, airy, and beautiful grand staircases that are wide and easy to ascend, beginning from the bottom and extending to the top. There are furthermore various secret stairs and access points to the respective parlors, upper halls, and rooms, as is shown more broadly in the ground plan. Furthermore, the front facade from the ground to the top is made of white Bentheimer and Bremen stone, following the Corintia Corinthian order, and that perfectly complete with all fine members and ornaments, such as basements, fluted pilasters, capitals, and the entire ornament and pediment, all neatly and curiously worked. It is also very costly provided on the inside with galleries, portals, door frames, fireplaces, and floors, all artfully hewn and made from fine marble stone, with divided or compartmentalized ceilings, painted by the most artistic painters here. Furthermore, it is provided with very pleasant plasterwork, both painted and gilded, as well as carved festonnen festoons/garlands, composed of flowers, fruits, and other adornments.
Here is also shown in the general ground plan everything as a whole, such as the house, site, gardens, stables, exits, and otherwise, among all of which is also an elegant fountain for the refreshment of the garden and the pleasure of the site.
