At that time, the most powerful and foremost man there was one Tadde Bonde, who, as soon as the King's troops had departed, made a new conspiracy with the foremost Islanders, whom he had brought to his side through his influence, so that they fell away from the King again and clung to him, meeting together in a place named Walos. Immediately, the Bishop of Skálholt—that is, of the east end—gave word of this to the Viceroy, who—because this Tadde Bonde had instigated the first riot—applied all means to get the people on his side again. This stemmed the progress of the rioters and untimely helped Tadde Bonde to his end: as the Viceroy had not heard this so quickly, he sat himself in the hall, admonishing the guilty to desist, and presenting rewards to the faithful, with stern threats to the stubborn and hard-hearted. This had so much power and such good effect that most, in consideration of the danger and the punishment that awaited them, left Tadde Bonde and his followers and humbly begged the Viceroy for forgiveness, which they also obtained.

Hereupon, the aforementioned Tadde was proclaimed an enemy of the King and the Fatherland, and those who had reconciled themselves with the King's governor pledged by oath to pursue him and kill him.
