The image shows a two-page spread. The left page is blank except for a faint mirror-image offset (ghosting) of the engraving from the right page. The transcription reflects the content of the right page.
An architectural engraving of the side elevation of the Amsterdam Town Hall (Stadhuis), which is now the Royal Palace on Dam Square. The building is a grand classical structure with three main levels of windows, decorative pilasters, and a prominent central cupola topped with a weather vane. On the left corner of the roof, a statue of Atlas holding the globe is visible. The foreground shows a paved square with various small figures of people in 17th or 18th-century dress, some walking and some in conversation, as well as a horse-drawn carriage on the right. To the far left and right, parts of the surrounding cityscape and the Nieuwe Kerk are partially visible.
