A landscape engraving shows a harbor scene in Amsterdam. The central focus is the Schreierstoren (Weepers' Tower), a round defensive stone tower with a steep, conical roof and a weather vane. The tower is situated at the edge of the water, surrounded by wooden docks and pilings. To the left of the tower, there is a quay with several grand gabled buildings and a crane for loading ships. To the right, a row of traditional Dutch houses lines the waterfront. In the foreground, two small rowboats with several people aboard navigate the water. Tall ship masts are visible behind the buildings. The sky is filled with light clouds and a few birds.
