A hand-colored historical map of Asia, titled "ASIA Geographical Map". The map displays the entire continent from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Indian Ocean in the south, and from the Mediterranean Sea in the west to Japan and the Pacific in the east. Regional labels include Russian Tartary, Chinese Tartary, the Chinese Empire, India, Persia, and Arabia. In the upper right corner, there are two decorative text boxes containing a list of city coordinates and a distance table. In the lower center, a large cartouche contains the map title and publication information, flanked by two robed figures and a resting lion. The map is surrounded by a graticule and a detailed border scale.
To the Benevolent Reader:
Know that the reason we have added some of the principal cities to this map is to provide the user with a more certain degree. Therefore, for the seeker of these primary lines of longitude and latitude, we provide easy work. The cities are as follows, as may be seen in the following schedule: We have observed those places that were more rare through Astronomy. Indeed, the degrees of these longitudes take as their principle the Island of Hierro, or Ferro, one of the Fortunate, or so-called Canary Islands, according to the observation of Astronomers.
