A hand-colored 18th-century copperplate map of the Kingdom of France, divided into its historical provinces. The provinces are distinguished by different pastel washes (pink, yellow, green). The map displays geographical features such as major river systems (the Seine, Loire, Garonne, Rhône), mountain ranges, and a dense network of cities and towns. The map is bordered by a graduated latitude and longitude scale. The top title is in Latin, while most other textual elements are in French. A decorative cartouche with heraldic elements is located in the bottom-left corner, and a detailed sidebar listing the twelve ancient governments with their coats of arms is positioned on the right edge.
