A hand-colored engraved map of Frisia (Friesland) and neighboring regions in the Netherlands and Germany, dated 1568. The map depicts the coastal regions along the German Ocean (North Sea), including a chain of islands separated from the mainland by the Wadden Sea. Major geographical features include the Zuyder Zee to the west and the Dollaert bay in the center. The map is detailed with cities, rivers, and forests. Several sailing vessels appear in the sea. A decorative compass rose is in the lower left. At the bottom center, a scale bar is enclosed in an oval strapwork frame. On the right, a large, ornate Renaissance-style cartouche contains the title. The map is divided into various historical districts, each colored differently.
