Furthermore, if it flows from a ruptured abscess of the liver or spleen, it flows by itself and without intestinal excrement or blood through the anus. Moreover, pus flowing from the female pudendum signifies an ulcer of the uterus: if it is cancerous, this pus stinks and turns black: for this reason, the uterus is perceived as hard to the touch and is affected by stinging pain. By the term 'pus', both types of sanies are understood: one, indeed, which is called ichor thin, watery discharge by the Greeks and 'virus' by the Latins: the other, however, is meliceris honey-like discharge, which is so named because it is similar in substance and color to liquid honey: ichor, however, is thin sanies, which most signifies a crude ulcer. But both distinguish more differences of ulcers. Likewise, intestinal excrements which appear foamy signify that the head is being purged. Those which are voided with great force and griping pain, and are mixed with shreds, denounce an ulcer of the intestines. Also, the genital semen of a man or woman flowing spontaneously during sleep teaches that the retentive power of the seminal vessels is weak: but if it still appears bloody, it does not flow from the seminal vessels,
