they think that the passion of Christ was not in truth but in fantasy. Against which Isaiah 53 says:
"Surely He has borne our infirmities,"
And as a sheep led to the slaughter.
Which is also cited in Acts 8. The second is the error of Apollinaris The original manuscript uses "falani", which is an error for "Apollinaris"., who posited one nature in Christ, but incorruptible and immortal. Against which it is said in 1 Peter 3: "Christ died once for our sins." And against all these errors, it is posited in the creed:
"Suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried, etc."
The third article is concerning the resurrection of Christ, according to what He Himself said in Matthew 20:
"The third day He shall rise again."
And concerning this article, first indeed, Cerinthus erred, asserting that Christ did not rise, but that He was to rise. Against which it is said in 1 Corinthians 15:
"He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures."
The second error is that which is imputed to Origen, that He was to suffer again for the salvation of demons. Against which it is said in Romans 6:
"Christ rising again from the dead dieth now no more; death shall no more have dominion over Him."
And against these errors, it is said in the creed:
"The third day He rose again from the dead."
The fourth article is concerning the descent into hell while the body lay in the sepulcher, Ephesians 4:
"He descended first into the lower parts of the earth."
Whence it is said in the creed:
"He descended into hell."
Which is against certain ones who posited that Christ did not descend by Himself into hell, when yet Peter says in Acts 2:
"That He was not left in hell."
The fifth article is concerning the ascension of Christ into heaven, of which He Himself says in John 20:
"I ascend to my Father and to your Father."
