And they shall say: "I believe." ¶ "Do you believe also in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord, who was born and suffered?"
Again the godparents shall say: "I believe." ¶ "Do you believe also in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the flesh, and life everlasting after death?" ¶ They shall say for the third time, "I believe." ¶ Then the priest, receiving the child and placing him upon his left hand, anoints him with the oil of the catechumens at the breast and between the shoulders, saying: ¶ I anoint you with the oil of salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord. ¶ Then he shall say in the vernacular: "Do you wish to be baptized?" ¶ They shall say: "I do." ¶ Then the priest shall either wash him with water or immerse the child, and say: ¶ I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
¶ And when the child has been lifted from the font, the priest anoints him with chrism on the crown of the head, saying: ¶ Let us pray. L. Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has regenerated you by water and the Holy Spirit, and who has given you the remission of all sins, may He Himself anoint you with the chrism of salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord.
¶ Afterwards he shall place the mantle upon him, saying: ¶ Receive this white, holy, and immaculate garment, which you shall carry before the tribunal of Christ, so that you may have eternal life. Amen. Go in peace.
