He who sees the Supreme Lord abiding equally in all beings, the undying in the dying, he sees.
Divided by being perceived, and yet undivided, by which one sees the unchanging essence, he should see the sattvic quality of purity/goodness in all beings.
But that knowledge which knows many diverse beings in all creatures as distinct, know that knowledge to be rajasic quality of passion/activity.
But that which is attached to one single effect as if it were the whole, without reason, lacking truth, and small, that is declared to be tamasic quality of darkness/inertia.
The action which is prescribed, performed without attachment, without love or hatred, by one not desiring the fruit, is called sattvic pure.
But the action which is performed by one desiring to satisfy his own wishes, or again by one full of egoism, is performed with much effort and is declared to be rajasic passionate.
