due to the diversity of meridians occurring, if you wish to pursue any moments, however small. When you complete this according to this rule: in the table of regions of the same Johannes, which I mentioned long ago above in the calendar proposed here for Toledo; take the name of your habitation if it is written there, or of the nearest one, and the number that appears directly opposite it next to the sign 'a' or 'm'. Add it to your proposed time for which you wish to take the motion; likewise, also to the time of the conjunction or opposition of the Sun and the Moon or the aspect taken from the lunar Ephemeris; also to the time of the entry of the Sun into the signs, similarly of the conjunctions of the planets, and also of the eclipses of the luminaries, which in the text of the tables annexed at the end are written most openly and are easy to understand. If the sign 'a' occurs, add; or subtract from the same if the sign 'm' is present. That column of numbers that appears next to the former order of signs 'a' and 'm' includes the hours and their minutes. The latter order, however, more amply shows how many degrees the north pole of the world is understood to be noted above the horizon of any place.
The table of the Indictional cycle, solar, or lunar, etc., is exposed immediately after the calendar, as is known from the inscription. The number of the indiction for any current year is easily found in this way. Having known the number of centennial years elapsed from the birth of Christ up to your proposed year, which the first order of the table contains. Then adapt the first centennial to the number of the second order first expressed there, namely 13; to the following, namely 8; for the second centennial, for the third, three hundred; but the number of the indiction does not extend there by descending. Apply the fourth centennial again to the first number, namely 13; and calculate in this way in succession until you have brought it to the most recent centennial; for where that one finds its seat, there you will have the number of the indiction corresponding to the current centennial. And if the current indiction were above the centennial, the year would be zero.
If perhaps some years have passed, note the number of the indiction corresponding to this centennial in the sixth order of numbers (which is common to individual cycles according to the expression of the inscription) where it is written; and to the number immediately following, assign the first number of the collected years noted in the first part of the order of numbers immediately proposed; to the following, the second; and so on in succession, just as you did with the numbers of the centennials, until you arrive at the number of collected years closest to your year. Those numbers of the years of the first part so ordered should be, namely, 16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96; for they are found to be false if written hastily. But to return to the purpose: that number of the indiction, again, for those collected years would be current if some extended years had not passed. If, however, some have flowed, assign the first extended year to the indiction number appearing continuously in succession; likewise to the following, the second, etc. That is, adapt individual numbers to individual extended years; for where the calculation of such a number of extended years ends, there in the sixth order of numbers common to the cycles, in the series of the indiction number which does not exceed 15, you will recognize the sought number of the indiction. Not differently, you will find the lunar cycle, that is, the golden number, and the solar, that is, the number of the dominical letters measuring the revolution, in whatever year you wish, if in the orders of numbers as much of the centennials as of the collected ones ascribed to them, and at the same time in the sixth order, you adapt them in the series of each of them, of which the first takes only 19 numbers, the second uses every number, namely 28, by the same way which you pursued in finding the indiction, referring individuals to individuals, here you will also proceed.
Having found the solar cycle and the golden number as above, next to it in the verse directly opposite toward the right, you will continuously see the number...
