possesses a certain eminence over the other saints. His eyes behold the inaccessible light of the divinity more clearly. His ears, indeed, penetrate the sweet whispering of God by understanding more subtly. His mouth, also, and his tongue feel the taste of ineffable sweetness. And so great an odor of sweetness breathes from his mouth that it fills the whole heaven, so that every saint feels the odor of John sweetly. His heart, moreover, burns with a singular celestiality in the divinity with love, and with a freer and more sublime flight, he flies over the mysteries of the divine height." Then she offered the prayers of the same person to John devoutly, as she had been asked; which he, accepting gratefully, said: "From all these that she has offered to me, I shall prepare a banquet for the Saints."
Item, she saw Saint John the Evangelist resting upon the chest of the Lord Jesus, and a multitude of saints around the Lord, as if leading a dance, and Christ praising God for John. Then she prayed the Lord to instruct her how she might praise Him for so beloved a Disciple. He answered first: "You will praise me for his most noble lineage, because he was born of my kinship, than which there is nothing more noble under heaven. Second, because I called him from the wedding to my apostolate. Third, because he merited to contemplate the clarity of my Face before others. Fourth, because he merited to rest upon my chest at the last supper. Fifth, because he was given the intellect of cognition above others."
