Indeed, it is truly a cruel recklessness when that which ought to have inclined one toward mercy makes them more insolent, in order to oppress those who are unjustly harassed, by adding to a burden that was already too heavy of its own accord.

The crimes which are brought against us are contained, in summary, under two headings. The first is that we defend an adulterated doctrine, and one alien to the catholic faith meaning universal, orthodox faith, which every Christian ought to follow. Hence it happens that we are called heretics with full mouths. However, we leave it to be judged from the confession of faith which will be attached here whether this is so or not. Indeed, we do not adhere to the many errors that have prevailed almost everywhere:
