What an example is.

Therefore, an Example is a form of Argumentation of such a kind, when from one particular or singular, another particular or singular is collected and confirmed, and that because of the similarity which is observed in both, in this way:

Ham is cursed, because he insulted his father.
Therefore Absalom will also be punished for his contempt of his father. Ham and Absalom are singular men, and the sin of both is similar, therefore a similar outcome is augured.

Of the same kind also is this:
Scipio preferred to go into exile rather than diminish the liberty of his country.
The same should be done by any good man.
The reason for the argumentation is the same as the previous one.
