It is necessary and worthy of knowledge to understand,
attentively and through the teaching of the Lord,
the reasons why princes are called in the Holy
Scriptures the gods of God, the sons of the Most High,
the anointed of the Lord, the power and the
ordinance of God. For they are called Elohim Gods, because just as they bear the name of God, so in reality they ought to fulfill the place of God, in heavenly and holy life, in executing judgment and justice, in the defense of the good, and the punishment of the wicked.
