the Covenant, appearing to the fathers, leading out the Jews.
TWENTY-SEVENTH INSTITUTION.
Those are therefore mistaken in opinion who imagine that Christ as a man alone, with the fullness of the Deity, without the Word of God, the Logos Word, is the mediator. For God is one, but the mediator is not of one. And just as in the Old Testament, sacrifices could not be consumed and offered without fire descending from heaven: so without the Logos Word, the Son of God, Iehouah Jehovah, offering himself through the eternal Son, sins could not be consumed, nor could eternal redemption—the eternal effect from a finite man—be found and perfected by the infinite and eternal Creator, the Son of God and his power.
TWENTY-EIGHTH INSTITUTION.
Just as Iehouah Jehovah is El Canna God Jealous, or a jealous one not bearing a strange or new god in the Deity, in nature, in life, in power, in will, and in worship: so he is El Canna God Jealous in the election, creation, salvation, vocation, justification, and conversion of the elect, and in the payment of the antilytrum ransom price of salvation. He does not bear or add colleagues, associates, disparate or unequal beings from the creatures. Because he is El Shaddai God Almighty, sufficient for all things through himself. Whatever he wills and has willed to perfect in heaven and on earth, he can do. Just as he chose in himself and through himself, so the Father created in the Son through the Holy Spirit by his own power. Thus, the Father, because of the Son, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, through the word and the faith of the elect, will be able to call, to convert, to perfect the causes of salvation, to justify, and to glorify.
