Preachers Dominicans. Cholleslane, in the parish of Saint John, which divides the Royal College King's College from the Carmelites. Newlane, which is opposite Cholleslane, extends straight to the great street, produced between the wall of the Royal College and the hospice of Saint Augustine, which street is obstructed on this side and that, at both ends, by a new wall. School Street, which was produced from the great street to the street of Saint John, or milstreat Mill Street by the schools. Piron Lane, in the parish of Saint John the Baptist, whose eastern head opened into Saint John Street, or Mill Street; it extended westward towards the stream, which is today called le Ee the river/water. Luthburne Lane, which is between the church of Saint Benedict and the college of Corpus Christi, on the eastern side, and the Augustinian friars. Thence Silver Lane, which (it is believed) is either the one that descended from the great street, through Borden Hostel, to the great street, near the Minorite friars Franciscans: or the one that ascended from Mill Street, through the garden and chapel of Gonville and Caius College, into the great street: or it is the one that proceeds from the northern part of the cemetery of Saint Mary the Great into the market: for the history of Barnwell teaches that it was in the parish of Saint Michael. There were also Strawlane and Salthithe, which are by the bank of the river, not far distant from each other. But these have been enclosed within the walls of the Royal College, as also a good part of the mill street, which was called Mill Street, because it led to the mill, and ends before the temple of Saint John, at its eastern part, which by another name is sometimes called Saint John Street. A great part of which, excluded today, divides Clare Hall from the King's College, and Gerard's Hostel from Gonville and Caius College. There was also Glomer Lane, or the street of Glomer, in the parish of Saint Mary. Crepers Lane, in the parish of Saint Edward. And there were also certain banks, such as the Dame Banks. Nichols Hythe, in the parish of the Holy Sepulchre, and All Saints in Judaism the area of the medieval Jewish quarter.
