If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

By this method, they lead them to ruin. They call the God of the Christians the "hanged God," while calling the one they solely desire the true and promised Messiah. They attempt to give credibility to their words with these arguments: "Behold," they say, "we have been driven from our homes, we lack a fatherland, we inhabit foreign soil; these Goim gentiles/non-Jews are forced to labor, to dig, to plow, and to seek a living for themselves and for us by the sweat of their brow, while we meanwhile take excellent care of our own skin and, indulging our genius, lead a sluggish and tranquil life in leisure and pleasure. Therefore, look ahead and beware lest you be seduced, etc." Thus, they so imbue and infect tender minds with this pernicious poison that, until the end of their lives, they do not remit even the slightest bit of the most bitter hatred with which they burn against us. For as the Lyrical poet says:
The jar will long retain the odor of what it was once steeped in when new.
They call Christ Dole thief, that is, a hanged thief; hence Luther strives with every effort of his mind to deter us from their society and commerce. It is shameful to repeat what Ioannes Romanus wrote. They detest and execrate the Virgin Mary, he says, calling her a harlot and a prostitute, and her son a bastard, born of the adulterous seed of Koresch the carpenter; they impudently deny, moreover, that he originated from the tribe of Judah. Luther excellently refuted this error, demonstrating against the doctrine of the Schemhamphora the secret or hidden name of God that the Alma of Isaiah chapter 7 signifies a chaste, whole virgin, touched by no man. Truly, that sharp hatred with which they are exasperated against us cannot be explained in words. Victor Carcumensis and Ioannes Isaacus of Cologne have refuted these and similar lies and fallacies with the strongest arguments; let anyone desirous of debating look into and understand each point more deeply. The masters of the doctrines of the Thalmudists, immediately after the destruction of the city of Jerusalem, brought to light a book filled with many trifles and obscurities, in which they do, attempt, and strive for this one thing: to make Christ guilty of some capital crime and to claim he was punished by law.
