The form of the other Chasm, which followed in the seventh month, namely on the 4th before the Kalends of October September 28th, immediately after the setting of the Sun, appeared to us less horrible, but nevertheless varied and more confused. For in that one, too, many illustrious arcs were seen, from which lances were gradually emerging, and towered cities, and military lines. There were excursions of rays in every direction, and waves of clouds and battles; they were harassing in turn and fleeing, made in a wonderful conversion into a circle.

What of the fact that dire images were also interspersed several times with multiple colors: black, white, yellow, purple, green, and sea-blue? Soon also the joining of rays in a pointed vortex into the most apt shape of a butterfly or a tent: under which, again, there was frequent movement, and skirmishing, and alternating refraction of light, exceeding all power of speech. Soon it stood with double wings vibrated as if by an eagle from the sunrise toward the sunset. Then again torn apart...
