PRAYER BEFORE
food is taken.
Our Lord, who art the inexhaustible fountain of all good things, impart to us thy blessing, sanctifying the things given to us by thee, so that we may use them purely, and only for necessary uses, according to thy will, and not abuse them for gluttony, and always confess that thou art our Father, the only author of good things. And meanwhile, while we use bodily food, recall to our memory always the spiritual eating of thy word, by which our souls may be fed into the hope of eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
