thy goodness, so that just as the body, so also my conscience may enjoy rest. Prohibit, moreover, that my body should indulge in sleep, but let me take only as much rest as the weakness of this body demands, and so may I be more prompt and more fit for worshiping thee. Finally, keep me healthy in body as well as in mind, and deliver me from every danger, so that my sleep also may be referred to the glory of thy name. Since, however, I am so prone to sin that this day has not passed without my offending thee greatly, I pray thee that, just as all things are now hidden by the darkness of the night, so thou wouldst hide my sins by thy mercy, lest they themselves should bar me from the way to thee. Hear me, O my God, being at once my Father and Savior, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
thy goodness, so that, just as the body, so also my conscience may find rest. And restrain my body from sleeping in sleep so that I do not enjoy more of it than suffices for the weakness of the body, and so may I be more ready and fit for thy service. Finally, keep me pure in body and in soul, and deliver me from every danger, so that my sleep also may be referred to the glory of thy name. Since, however, I am so prone to sin that not even this day could pass [without offending thee], I pray thee, just as all things are now covered by the gloom of the night, so mayest thou hide my transgressions with thy mercy, so that they may not prevent me from entering to thee. Hear me, O my God, being both Father and Savior, through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
