Special signs either reveal an external cause or an internal one. Here, thoughts must be referred both to the past and the present state katastasis constitution/state and the preceding diet. And all signs of each humor must be placed before the mind.

The prognosis is considered in two ways: universally and specifically. In general, every plague is pernicious. For unless it were able to kill many, it would not even be a plague.

Since the plague is not a determined type of disease, we will omit here the indications for treatment and the materials for remedies. The heads of preservation are mostly these: that bodies should be free of excrements and sweat well, and then, that the dominant cause be resisted as much as possible.
