91. For purgative pills, due to their slower dissolution, can draw out humors more conveniently from distant parts.
92. Which, however, must be tempered in such a way that they leave some constriction in the parts, lest the humors be moved too much.
93. Such pills are the Arthritic, Cochian, Sarcocollan, Hiera, Aggregative, and Fetid pills.
94. And if the bodies are more robust, the pills of hermodactyl an ancient purgative plant, likely colchicum, praised by everyone, are most beneficial.
95. Through the upper parts, they evacuate either by vomitories or apophlegmatisms agents to purge phlegm from the head/throat.
96. Vomiting, if it succeeds prosperously, is provoked every month and best averts matter flowing down into the feet.
97. Therefore, simple oxymel a mixture of honey and vinegar, or scillitic made with squill, or vinegar mixed with warm water is suitable.
98. Apophlegmatisms draw out mostly phlegmatic humors from the head through the mouth, of which many are described.
99. Following repulsion is diversion, which is done partly by sudorifics sweat-inducing agents and partly by diuretics.
100. Sudorifics can draw out all serous matter from the body by resolving it through vapor.
101. Out of many commended for this use, the simple decoction of Guaiacum wood is most effective.
102. In softer bodies (such as those of the gouty usually are), the distilled water of that wood is to be preferred.
103. For this is of better penetration, and because of the sweetness obtained from added aromatics, it is more pleasing to the stomach.
104. Diuretics are beneficial here by evacuating serous and raw humors, lest they be retained in the body and flow down to the feet.
105. But if the matter has already fluxed and has long been impacted in the joints, one must use more concocting and discussing dissolving/dispersing agents.
