LXI.
The quantity must be measured according to the fullness and the strength of the patient.
LXII.
The opportune time will be during the very cycle of the accustomed menses.
LXIII.
In place of phlebotomy, the use of cupping glasses can be effective, which may be attached to the hollow of the knee, the calves, or the ankles, especially in those who have thin and receding veins. We use them without scarification if the blood is to be attracted to the uterus, with the preparation of the whole body having been performed first.
LXIV.
Once the blood is evacuated, potions that can move the menses, fomentations, baths, inunctions, and other things mentioned above are to be applied.
LXV.
If the veins coalesce because of some ulceration of the uterus, the cure must be sought from the treatment of the ulcer.
LXVI.
If the menstrual flow does not occur due to a tumor of the adjacent parts or some defect of the uterus itself, we will attend first to the disease which is the cause of the retained menses; then we will proceed to the provocation of the menses.
LXVII.
Because of an abundance of fat with suspended menses, a thinning diet is to be used, along with many and quick exercises.
