An ex-libris bookplate displays the coat of arms of Cardinal Dubois. The central shield is surmounted by a cardinal's galero (a wide-brimmed hat with tassels). The shield is flanked by two cherubs and topped with a cross. Above the cross is the motto "God has reigned from the wood" original: "REGNAVIT A LIGNO DEUS". Below the shield is the text "From the books of the Most Eminent and Reverend Lord Louis Cardinal Dubois, Archbishop of Rouen" original: "Ex Libris EE DD Ludovici CARDINALIS DUBOIS Archiepiscopi Rothomagensis". At the very bottom is a circular monogram. The entire design is enclosed in an ornate, scrolling frame.
