Nor is this a new miracle, since accidents of this kind are preserved without a subject referring to the philosophical argument that the accidents of bread and wine—color, taste, weight—remain in the Eucharist without the substance of bread and wine..

Indeed, from the quantity of the host affected by those accidents, one may also generate and produce whatever could previously be generated from the material of bread, although not in the exact same way.

When this happens, it must be said that a true conversion of quantity into the matter of the produced thing intervenes here, rather than a creation of that matter and an annihilation of that quantity.

The form of the Eucharist consists of certain and determinate words, instituted at the Last Supper, by which it is most certain in faith that this Sacrament is accomplished.

Those words, as regards the species of bread, are these: This is my body. As regards the species of wine, these: This is the chalice of my blood.

The remaining words that are added, even if one who omits them sins, are nevertheless not of the essence of the Form.
