peace.
As, when external peace flourishes, all civil, domestic, and other duties are performed in order: so also, when and where the peace of God reigns in the heart, by the law of Charity, its duties are performed in an orderly and decent manner to all our neighbors, but most especially to those of the household of our faith.
Truly PEACE is happiness: which they obtain from God the Father (Philippians 4:7) in Christ (John 16:33). They are the Sons of peace, that is, lovers of peace and the Gospel (Luke 10:6), who contend through the way of peace toward that state in which, with charity reigning, they may rightfully rest most sweetly. Luke 1:79, 1 Corinthians 13:8.
But in this place, Peace is properly ὁμονοία concord/unanimity, first of a faithful man indeed with God. According to these sayings: That they all may be one; as You, Father, are in me, and I in You, that they also may be one in us. John 17:21. Also: And our fellowship may be with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 1 John 1:3. Then, with himself: when not only are the Affections subjected to the command of Reason, but also the ψυχικός natural/soulish man is subjected to the new man, with the flesh mortified. According to the sayings: If by the Spirit you mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live. Romans 8:13. Also: And to put on that new man, which is created according to God in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24. Finally, with the household of faith: who, just as they are joined with us to Christ who is the Head, so they have coalesced and grown together with us as living members, by the adamantine bond of the same Spirit and of Charity. According to the sayings: But speaking the truth in love, let us grow up in all things into Him who is the head, namely Christ: From whom the whole body, fitly joined together and compacted by all the supplied joints, according to the working in the measure of every part, receives an increase of the body, for the edifying of itself in love. Ephesians 4:15-16. With all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love: endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one Body, and
