Body, and one Spirit, etc. Ephesians 4:2-4. Paul calls Charity the bond of perfection, because the counsels, studies, and duties of men are both contained and governed by charity. Colossians 3:14.
But an inseparable companion of this peace is ἡ εὐθυμία cheerfulness/serenity, that is, tranquility of mind, which Paul seems to me to have defined when he says the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7. You would rightly say that it is a brilliant serenity of the Soul, shining with the light of grace, a security holy and pleasing to God, and a perpetual tranquility.
V. Quæstio Question.
But here the pious Mind asks: are we to understand the oracle of Zechariah, "Love Truth and Peace," of one or another kind of peace, or indeed of all three collectively, and thus of that most longed-for εὐθυμία serenity and quietness of Conscience?
Responsio Response.
Indeed, just as ἐν ᾗ δικαιοσύνη συλλήβδην πᾶσ' ἀρετή ἐστιν in which justice all virtue is contained collectively, that is, justice contains every virtue within itself: so also the lovely word of Peace contains those three forms within itself in such a way that, without the first (which is the man reduced to his origin and author, with whom there is the most holy and effective union), no one can truly cultivate peace, either with himself or with a faithful Neighbor; my opinion, indeed, is that the Prophetic oracle is to be understood and explained to us concerning the πανδαιμονίᾳ all-blessedness of the three species, whose sum, ἐντελέχειαν actuality, and perfection, one is permitted to contemplate in no clearer mirror than in Christ Jesus. For it is established that we must be conformed to Him.
VI. Διορισμὸς τοῦ ζητουμένου Definition of the point in question.
This is the Question which we must work to resolve, and then to demonstrate: whether these two, Truth and Peace, should be loved by us equally, or not?
