nothing other than the justice of faith, and our association with Christ, about which the Gospel preaches.
2. Axiom. The matter, the argument, and as it were a most precious nucleus of the Gospel is JESUS CHRIST. Rom. 1:3.
Declaration. Jesus Christ has been made for us by God the Father wisdom, and justice, and sanctification, and redemption. 1 Cor. 1:30.
X. Demonstration.
Since, however, the Syllogism, and especially the demonstrative one, is βιασικώτερος καὶ πρὸς τὰς ἀντιλογικὰς ἐνεργέστερος more forceful and more effective against contradictions, that is, it urges with greater force and is more effective against those who contradict, as Aristotle truly declares in his Topics: we reason in this way.
It is most certain that of both the holy Gospel and all the Sacraments, there is one and the same Nucleus, which it is necessary for us to perceive by faith so that we may enjoy the same. As is clear from the first Axiom.
But the nucleus of that holy Gospel to be perceived by faith is JESUS CHRIST, and him crucified. 1 Cor. 2:2. This lemma confirms the latter Axiom.
XI. Conclusion.
Wherefore the NUCLEUS of all the Sacraments is also one and the same: ὅπερ ἔδει δεῖξαι which was to be demonstrated.
XII. Induction.
Since, however, the Induction, by the testimony of the same Philosopher, is πιθανωτέρα, καὶ σαφεστέρα, καὶ κατὰ τὴν αἴσθησιν γνωριμωτέρα, καὶ τοῖς πολλοῖς κοινὸν more persuasive, and clearer, and better known according to sense, and common to the many: that is, more suitable for persuading, and more open, and better known according to sense, and which many commonly use: come, let that also be applied, so that we may confirm the same Conclusion.
