If you spot an error, have a suggestion, or just want to say hello — we’d love to hear from you.

Just as, therefore, for those Israelites, the Pillar of fire was a solace and remedy for the darkness of the night, truly representing Him of whom Isaiah prophesied many centuries later, saying: Arise, shine: for your light has come, and the glory of Iehouah the LORD has risen upon you. Isa. 60:1.
So in the darkness of this life, no one else illuminates us but the Lord Jesus, of whom Malachi prophesied, saying: But unto you who fear my name, the Sun of righteousness shall arise. Chap. 4:2.
x x. Manna.
8. But what shall we decide about MANNA? Was it both a Sacrament properly so called, and therefore a thing to be greatly valued by the pious, with Jesus Christ as its most excellent nucleus? Exod. 16.
Response. Since, upon mention of the Manna, the Lord Jesus Himself, passing from it as from a sign to Himself as to the thing signified, clearly said: I am the bread of life: whoever comes to me shall not hunger: and whoever believes in me shall never thirst. John 6:35. Since also Paul says that all the Fathers ate the same spiritual food. 1 Cor. 10:3. We evidently collect, indeed, that the faithful Fathers, eating the Manna, ate through faith Christ Jesus, the bread of life: otherwise none of them would have obtained eternal life. John 6:50-51.
Furthermore, the Saints are said to hear, see, receive, and eat Christ through the Heart, by faith, though metaphorically, when they enjoy Him for their salvation.
x x I. Sabbath.
9. But the Sabbath, was it a Sacrament which represented JESUS Christ to the faithful?
Response. If the Sabbath was to be kept for this reason, that it was a sign between God and the Israelites, so that they might know that Iehouah the LORD was He who sanctified them.
