or themselves, their wives, and their children, indeed the entire homeland—most faithfully and quickly come to their aid and in this way provide the promised help.
However, this federation and defense relates only to the ONE EXERCISE OF RELIGION and its business, as has been said above; outside of which, the three Evangelical Estates in Bohemia, and likewise the Princes, Orders, and Estates in Silesia, remain entirely free and are in no way obligated to one another. And since all these things ought to tend toward promoting the honor of Almighty GOD; toward defending and securing the Christian Religion; but in no way against the person of the Imperial and Royal Majesty himself, nor toward the offense of the Catholic estates in either Region; but toward maintaining peace, benevolence, and unity among those of both Religions; indeed toward protecting the dignity, sublimity, and healthy prosperity of His Imperial Majesty, and the utility of the Religions themselves: toward the preceding offense, all these things are directed. Therefore, all and singular subjects on both sides cherish a firm hope and trust that His Imperial Majesty will not only most graciously not disapprove of this work, but will most gratefully defend and preserve these Regions, as in their liberties and privileges, so also in this Christian Religion.
