Buonanni, Filippo · 1691

An elaborate Baroque frontispiece engraving depicts an angel seated on a rock, holding a book or tablet in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other. Two putti (cherubs) accompany the figure: one kneels while playing a flute, and the other stands beside the angel. The background shows a landscape with a body of water and distant ships beneath a cloudy sky. The entire scene is enclosed within a highly ornate, decorative frame featuring acanthus leaves, scrolls, and a cherubic face at the top center. At the bottom, there is a blank cartouche.
