Buonanni, Filippo · 1691

Reverend and Eminent Father, Master Francesco de Arrelus, Cleric Regular Minister, formerly Lecturer of Sacred Theology at the University of Salamanca, and Regent of Studies at his College of Saint Charles.
I have read attentively and studiously, by commission of the Most Reverend Father Brother Thomas Maria Ferrari, Master of the Sacred Apostolic Palace, the book titled Observations concerning Living Things which are found in Non-Living Things. With a curious Micrography, or Observations of very minute things, which, examined by means of a microscope, are expressed as if alive, etc. Its author is the Reverend Father Philippus Bonanni of the Sacred Order of the Society of Jesus. I find nothing in it discordant with Catholic doctrine or good morals. Indeed, I judge this work very useful to natural philosophy and curious learning, and a labor worthy to be published in print. Given at Rome in our house of Saint Lawrence in Lucina, on the 7th day of March, in the year of the Lord 1690.
Let it be printed, if it shall seem good to the Most Reverend Father Master of the Sacred Apostolic Palace. Given from our house on the 16th day of March 1690.
Steph. Ioseph Menattus, Bishop of Cyrene, Vicegerent.
Let it be printed. Brother THOMAS MARIA FERRARI, of the Order of Preachers, Master of the Sacred Apostolic Palace.
