Leeuwenhoek, Antoni van · 1719

An allegorical frontispiece features a portrait of Antonie van Leeuwenhoek within an oval frame at the center top. A winged figure, representing Fame, holds a trumpet above him. Below, classical female figures in a landscape gesture toward the portrait. The inscription on the oval frame identifies the subject: "ANTONIUS A LEEUWENHOEK, FELLOW OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF LONDON."
