Work. For our Mercurius Mercury and Sulphur the alchemical masculine principle are also water and blood, spirit and soul. But our unique matter accomplishes nothing that our Philosophical Stone could not prepare, for it must first also be born through a pure matter. Through or within this, it takes on a fixed nature and complexion. Through this, it is transformed into something better and higher by means of various philosophical sufferings, namely: solviren dissolving, digeriren digesting, putrificiren putrefying, distilliren distilling, sublimiren sublimating, figiren fixing, and coaguliren coagulating (which happens with our Philosophical vaporous fire). It casts off the mourning garment, which is then stained with its tears, in the shape of a black eagle, raven, or dragon sprinkled with blood, which bathes the fire. That is: when it must die, then it opens its mouth before the heat, and out of it fly the wild white doves. That is the true Philosophical Mercurius Mercury, or the gluten aquilæ glue of the eagle, the moving, hidden, invisible, great, effective nature, the beautiful clear queen clothed in her silver robe, which is spiritual, and she has hidden the red robe and red collar of the King, her husband.
When it is bathed white and has cast off its mourning and black garment, the Queen is led to him; she puts the red, joyful garment on him and places upon him
the head; that is the perfect Tincture, which transforms all imperfect metals into noble gold.
Coaguliren coagulation, that is, the fixation, which is the final labor and the end of the coagulation, when the Mercurius Mercury is no longer volatile in the fire, but voluntarily binds itself with the Sulphur the alchemical masculine principle. They join together and become one, like water with wine. That is the marriage of the Queen with the King in the wedding hall; that is in the Philosophical egg, which one places in the Athanor-Ofen alchemical furnace and lets it sit in a gentle warmth, just as a hen hatches her eggs.
Sometimes the King is also clothed with the purple and royal garment; then he is a King who loves his Queen, and she loves him, and they become one flesh, and one blood, and one spirit, and one body, and one soul, and one life, and one work, and one stone. That is the Stone of the Wise, that is the Stone of the Philosophers, that is the Stone of Virtues, that is the Stone of Health, that is the Stone of Life, that is the Stone of Immortality.
