he was in the beginning with God.
All things came into being through him: and with-
out him not even one thing was made: that which was
made: in him was life: and the life
was the light of men original: "ἀν(θρώπ)ων" (anthropon). Another abbreviated holy name referring to humanity.: and the light
shines in the darkness: and the dark-
ness did not overcome it. There was
