Sacred Order of Sophisians

There is no oath, but there is permanent exclusion for the first proven indiscretion.

No one has the right to speak, only to question: the Great Isiarque high priest/leader of the order, or his representing delegate, alone holds the power of speech.

Under penalty of expulsion, one cannot make oneself known to other members, either directly or indirectly, inside or outside the cavern.

Seven blasts of the whistle from the Great Isiarque bring about complete darkness; everyone withdraws and removes their costume in silence, and in the greatest mystery.

Costume

A black cloak with a hood pulled up over the head, an Egyptian helmet surmounted by a small sphinx with a visor in the shape of a mummy mask; a sword supported by a red belt three fingers wide.

Place of Assembly, and Materials

A cavern in the countryside with a vaulted ceiling, a 7-branched lamp, at the back a stone table, and a circular bench for the supreme tribunal.

On the table is the heart of Ch- and S- covered by a black veil: a stylus and tablets for writing.

Above the tribunal, a sun veiled by clouds with the inscription: non omnibus lucet original: "non omnibus lucet"; English: "it does not shine for everyone.".

Above the entrance door on the inside, a serpent biting its tail in the middle of vapory rays with the inscription: videbunt non videbunt original: "videbunt non videbunt"; English: "they shall see and shall not see.".
