Without the Son himself the highest Builder.
What does "occasion" mean and how was the first laying held?

When the Son of the highest Builder subjected Himself to the customs of the reception of the new union.
How was Saint John dressed on this occasion?
In a garment of white fur according to the custom.

What do the five red bows on the green ribbon mean?
When I look at them, I am reminded of the five bleeding wounds of our highest Grand Master, who provided us with entry and stay in the temple.
(Note No. 1. This explanation is given in general assemblies or Scottish directorates, sometimes followed by many of the five witnesses of the name on the apron of the Andreas Master.)

Cap. XXI. Art. 24.
Art. 24. No one can be promoted to Knight and member of the Chapter who pursues a trade [but] does not profess the true Christian and pure apostolic doctrine which our forefathers, the martyrs in the Orient, professed and defended.
These statutes
Cap. XXII. 8. 16
Art. 37. Since the fear of God and veneration for the person of our Supreme Master Jesus Christ is the primary duty of a true Knight of Jerusalem and the Orient, the Grand Master may, by his own power, appoint three priests from the number of the knights to be prelates of the Order, etc.
Capit. XXII. 24
The patents certainly concern this grade.
Art. 41. The Knights of the East are obligated as knights and brothers for Christ's doctrine to wear a Christian mantle and to attend divine service diligently, so that their souls may be supported by the work of the Lord against the temptations of the flesh and against their own inclinations, and they may be ready without fear of death to die and to receive the crown of victory.
Capit. XXII. 14
N.B.
Art. 42. No knight may have [associations] with a sword or any other reprobate community ohne zu kämpfen without fighting, rather [he must strive] to lead them from the path of error to the good way, in order to walk upon this path. On journeys, he may not take lodging in the house of such a person unless necessity requires it. In this case, however, he must have his lamp with a burning light inside during the night, carry his drawn sword at his side for defense, and have the bell at his head, in order to have people for help immediately if it rings.
Capit. XXII. 8. 9
While the Grand Master gives him the breast ornament:
Clothe yourself with the armor of God in order to be able to withstand all the evil attacks of the devil, who rules in this world in darkness, and the evil spirits under heaven.
Ibid. XXII. 8. 12
N.B.
In the oath, which is taken in the chapel, it says:
"I further vow at all times to confess the true apostolic-evangelical faith, and to defend it even at the cost of my life and my goods."
Ibid. XXII. 8. 13
When the candidate is given the star and breast-right, the Grand Master says:
"The Lord consecrate your heart in the blossom of the seed, so that you may possess eternal salvation."
Ibid. XXII. 8. 13
When the Grand Prior hands him the mantle and puts the red cord around his neck:
"The Lord grant that, justified through the blood and cross of Jesus Christ, clothed in the white garment of the saints, you may one day triumph perfectly over the visible and invisible enemies, furthermore appear recognized before the Lord, and see the face of God."
The Grand Prior cuts off a small tuft of hair at his right ear: the youngest Grand Prior grows next to the cross, while the Grand Prior lays his hand upon him and gives him the benediction.
Capit. XXII. 8. 14.

(Further, I have found no passage that points to Palomis's assertion that the Order requires Catholicism to renounce Papism forever. Perhaps Palomis did this as a Pentecostal brother and thought the Order was speaking through him.)
Why is a plate of blood (in the first grade) placed before the chest of the novice?
As a symbol of the closer brotherhood bond which must take place among perfect Brothers of Mary, and in memory of our former ways [of deciding] to conclude alliances or treaties with the infidels, from whom—in order to be more certain of the fulfillment of their promise, because no Christianity lay at the foundation—it was demanded that they should mix their blood with that of the brothers and drink of it.
p. 22
p. 23.
What do the sun and moon signify on the tracing board?
That a Temple brother is obligated to be ready day and night to defend Christianity against its enemies.
