1865 B
A photograph shows the front side of a circular coin from the Kingdom of Saxony. The central design features the Saxon coat of arms. This consists of a shield with horizontal bars and a diagonal, crown-like band known as a crancelin. A royal crown sits atop the shield, which is framed by decorative scrollwork. The words KINGDOM OF SAXONY original: "KOENIGREICH SACHSEN" are raised in capital letters along the upper curve of the coin's border. At the bottom, the date 1865 is positioned between a small rosette on the left and the mint mark B on the right. This letter B identifies the coin as a product of the Dresden mint. The coin has a dark, aged surface. A metric scale and color calibration target are visible at the bottom of the frame for archival reference.
