Constitutions, or Statute For The Freemasons

1. A profane a non-Mason who presents himself to be received must be known to the Brothers, and proposed in the Lodge;
2. He will not be admitted to the Master's degree if there is a single vote against him;
3. No one will be received whose conduct is base, or whose conduct is scandalous;
4. Serving brothers will receive only the degrees of apprentice and companion;
5. They will be outside the Lodge when receptions occur;
6. They shall not be seated at the table until the end of the dessert;
7. The Treasurer will pay them at each Lodge;
8. Brothers with talents shall never enter the Lodges, whatever merit they may have;
9. The Lodge will choose its Venerable Master by ballot;
10. The Venerable will serve for one year, and he will continue only by means of a second election, which will take place on the day of St. John the Baptist, patron of the order;

An Inspector has come here from the Lodge of Clermont. I introduced him as a brother, but I refused the inspection, as well as the constitutions mentioned to me, admitting nothing to correct our works except for persons who come from your part [Lodge of the Union in Frankfurt am Main] or from the Grand Lodge of London. I have, however, notified the Lodge of Clermont of our works, and I will have the pleasure of communicating the responses to you.
