Instruction for the Vénérable Maître Venerable Master.
The Vénérable Venerable Master must remember that he is the head of the Loge Lodge, and that the functions he performs are the most important.
He must ensure that the work is performed with order and decency, and that the Brothers conform to the Statutes and Regulations of the Order.
He is seated in the East to open the Loge Lodge and direct it in its work, just as the Sun rises in the East to open the career of the day.
His seat is raised by three steps, to teach him that he must rise above others through his virtues and his knowledge.
The Maillet Gavel is the symbol of the authority he exercises over the Brothers.
He must be just and impartial in his decisions, and always seek to maintain union and concord among the members of the Loge Lodge.
The Équerre Square he wears is the symbol of the rectitude of his actions.
The Lights of the Loge Lodge are arranged to enlighten the Brothers in their journey toward truth.
The Loge Lodge is illuminated by three great Lights, which represent the Sun, the Moon, and the Master of the Loge Lodge.
The Sun to illuminate the day, the Moon to illuminate the night, and the Master to illuminate his Brothers.
