The Operator puts a crown of flowers upon his head to remind him of the Empire that God gave to the first man over all creatures and to be the Symbol of the good odor that his virtues must spread among the brothers.
The Secretary arms him with a Sword as a sign of the zeal with which he must defend Masonry against the Irregularity of false brothers and the Calumnies of the Profane.
They place the Recipient in line with the other brothers.
One then proceeds to the other Receptions, if there are any, after which one gives them The Signs, words, and touch.
The Sign is to join the hands with fingers interlaced to mark union and equality.
The touch is to take with the right hand the right hand of the brother who presents himself, and the left hand with the left, as a sign of friendship.
The word is J..., that is to say God-himself.
The Operator has all the brothers sit on the two columns... he has at his sides the Orator and the Secretary at the Occident between the brothers Presenter and Introducer and the brother Assistant... he then says to the Recipient: My brother, the order of Masonry is a source of humility, whose Spirit is to apply its Mysteries to a sound and pure morality, which you are going to learn through the Instruction.
