Scottish Mason of Prussia, or the Knight of Saint Andrew

Reception.

The Master orders a brother to go fetch and prepare the Candidate. After which, the Master orders the Second Warden to go blindfold him, place the rope around his neck, and bring him in this state to the door of the Lodge while knocking 4 loud blows. The Second Warden executes the order and is answered in the same way. Then the Very Respectable says: "Brother Elder, Warden, see who knocks?"

The First Warden goes to see and returns to report that it is the Second Warden bringing the candidate.

The Master says: "Ask him his name, the signs, and the marks of ordinary Masonry."

The First Warden executes the order and reports back.

The Very Respectable says: "Let the door be opened to him."

The Second Warden has the Candidate enter, makes him perform four circuits in the Lodge, starting from the South. He then hands him over to the First Warden with 4 knocks.

The First Warden asks who has knocked.

The Second Warden answers: "It is a Master Mason who asks to be received into the Scottish Mastery."

The First Warden replies: "Have him approach the Very Respectable."

The Candidate pronounces the following obligation:

I promise and vow, under the same obligations that I have taken in my other grades of Masonry, to keep hidden in my heart all the secrets of Scottish Rite Masonry original: "Ecossisme" and never to reveal them to anyone who is not a Scottish Mason. I promise, furthermore, not to establish any Lodge in any place where I might be without the permission and consent of the Grand Master and the Grand Lodge, and without the decision of this Respected Lodge, nor to receive anyone clandestinely, nor to assist at any clandestine Lodge; and if I know of any, I promise to report them to this Respected Lodge. I resolve to be a worthy observer of this new Engagement, and this under the inviolable Seal of the order: so help me God. (He kisses the Bible)

The Candidate is led back between the two Wardens. He is given the Light. He is made to advance before the Very Respectable by 4 large steps, and having arrived, he gives him the signs, touches, and the word of the Scottish Masters, through the 7 points of Scottish Masonry.

The 1st sign is to place the right hand over the heart.

The 2nd is to place the hand in a square meaning a right angle on the forehead, withdrawing it toward the right ear.

The 3rd sign is to grasp the elbow.

The 4th sign is to place knee against knee.
